    • Maybe Olly was clambering about a bit too much? He sounded pretty much out of breath towards the end of the song, unlike Nemo who did an amazing job imo. I know that nowadays Eurovision is to a great extent about the show but it must not affect the vocal performance. The uk song was an ok radio friendly dance track but there’s nothing new about it imo. Vocally e.g. Iolanda and Eden Golan left a positive impression and also the singer of the Norwegian band. I actually quite enjoyed their song btw. Usually I’m not a fan of Nordic folk metal but they sound pretty good, there’s nothing cheesy about their song. With a strong hook line that song could go far, I guess.

      • The problem with the UK is the emphasis they put on the staging, it’s as if one has to focus on the staging (and in this case of such bad taste, IMO) more than on the song. But in that selection I really enjoyed listening to it.

      • I totally agree, the staging should provide a benefitting setting for the song performance and not overshadow it. As for Olly’s show, I consciously avoided to comment on it. I think that it is way over the top sice Eurovision is – at least for me – a family event.

      • As for the second semi, I really enjoyed Israel (probably the best ballad on offer): nice melody, great vocals. Spain was also OK! It’s a nice fun entry (unlike some of the others, like Finland or Estonia), but I also didn’t like the staging. Why does everything have to be so gay???? Czech Republic was really good too (but unfortunately didn’t qualify…). Norway left me cold and Switzerland I really don’t like that.

I guess if I had to make a Top 10 with the finalists only, I would go with:
        12: Ukraine
        10: UK
        8: Israel
        7: Lithuania
        6: Spain
        5: Portugal
        4: Greece
        3: Italy
        2: Armenia
        1: Latvia

      • I think, I can’t put together a top ten this year. Norway, Israel and Switzerland (the latter more or less) are my favourites, followed by Portugal and Armenia. Spain’s 80s retro song is fun too. – This year’s Sanremo was underwhelming to me. Although I’m not a fan of Annalisa I think that she had a better song. Angelina is a good performer for sure but her song is definitely not a cumbia, rather a Western idea of what a cumbia might sound like. 😛

      • Let’s see who will be actually hosting the event. Geneva has already submitted their application! Now everybody wants to host Eurovision of course but we have to check first who actually can do it. We’ll soon find out, in September I think. 😀
