VFoS No1: London

Dear friends, welcome to the first edition of Virtual Festival of Songs.

Our first ever edition will take place in London and more specifically at the East End (more info to follow).

The choice of the location might be banal, but East London is at the moment one of the most global and multicultural urban areas in the world. Given the aims of this contest is to bring music from all around the globe we believe London fits the description perfectly. So is the photo chosen for this edition. Brick Lane lies in Shoreditch a locality of East London and it might be considered as the most diverse street in UK and Europe. Locals vary from British, to south Asians and black-British, while the borough of Hackney, which lies just next is the most culturally diverse borough of the UK. Many young Europeans chose to live there for example. Evidently the East End of London has become an interesting blend of cultures, sounds and tastes being also famous for it’s hipster and bohemian character.

I hope you join us. The registration opens on Saturday 9 September 18:00 CET and you have until Saturday 16 September 23:59 CET to send your entry to the following address: cosdino83@gmail.com. The voting will open the next day and ends for up to 10 days. Results are provisionally scheduled on the 27 September.

Please, don’t forget to refer yourself to the rules which are exactly the same as in FdlC. Also, please do check ETSC’s and FdlC’s history (or search past editions) to make sure your song have not participated in any previous online contest.

There will be only two pre-registered person each time- the host and the winner. This time I am your host and I have chosen the United Kingdom. I have been trying to introduce you to a singer I have been familiar with for quite sometime so I feel this is the right moment to do so. The next edition will be hosted by Anders and therefore I will join you guys for the registration game, this time as a player.

We also welcome recommendations and also we do encourage people to host an edition if they wish so. Me and Anders treat this blog as a communal effort and not as ”our personal business”.

I hope you join us!

Good luck and thank you 🙂

Dino

  2. This is superb guys. Well done Dino and Anders for getting this up and ready for us so quickly. Sorry to hear about the demise of FDLC but hopefully all the lovely HoD’s who contributed great music will continue to send their best here.

    Good luck everyone! 😀
